November is the chilly, fun month that is smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. It is a time for being grateful for your blessings, for spending time with family, and for preparing to get fat on delicious food. It is also a time to be looking for ways to spruce up your home for the upcoming holidays. Although everyone loves Christmas, Thanksgiving should get some decorations too. Thankfully, we have compiled some tips for decorating your home for Thanksgiving.
Tip #1: Play With Leaves
One of the most fun parts of fall is raking up and playing in leaves. Well, there are other ways to play with leaves through decorating your home for Thanksgiving. Any craft store will have garlands of leaves. Buy a few strings of these and hang them up on your mantle, above windows or doors or gracefully lay them on your table as part of a centerpiece.
Consider weaving faux leaves or even real leaves into a wreath for your front door or to hang on your wall. Lastly, anything that you can acquire that has leaves on it will be a safe bet for a cute, fall-themed home. Pillows or pillow covers with embroidery, tablecloths or kitchen towels with subtle patterns, and dishes or vases in the shape of leaves are all great choices for celebrating autumn and Thanksgiving.
Tip #2: Keep It Cozy
Another tip for decorating your home for Thanksgiving is to give your home a cozy feel. When your family gathers together for a Thanksgiving meal, you want them to feel not only happy but comfortable and snug. To create this feeling, add texture and warmth to your rooms. In the living rooms, add warm colored blankets and pillows that people can nestle into. Consider adding candles to give your rooms extra warmth and give the eyes pleasing light patterns to follow. Really the only other tip to get your home to be even more cozy is to add your family and friends and enjoy the season.
Tip #3: Make It Pop
With any holiday, putting up certain colors is a big part of celebrating. Halloween is orange and black, Christmas is red and green, and Easter is pastels. When you are decorating your home for Thanksgiving, you have multiple options to choose from including red, yellow, orange, brown and gold. However, do not be afraid to add a pop of color to your decorations. A bright blue picture frame or a dark purple vase can really help set off the traditional fall colors in your home. The trick is to have fun with it!
Tip #4: Add Something Fresh
Our last tip for decorating your home for Thanksgiving is to add something fresh to your home. Pick up some pumpkins from the supermarket or go to the patch with the family in order to freshen up your porch or kitchen table. Do not be afraid to switch it up and get some gourds or some pumpkins that have unconventional colors. You could paint your pumpkins or place flowers or candles in or around your pumpkins. If pumpkins or gourds are not really your thing, then try getting some corn husks and hang them up or find some flowers that are in season and place them around your home.
